How is it different from Physiotherapy & Personal Training?

In the field of neurology, exercise physiology and physiotherapy share many similarities and often overlap in their roles. However, at West Coast Neuro, the key distinction is that physiotherapists can provide hands-on soft tissue treatment and specialise in prescribing assistive technology, whereas our exercise physiologists do not. Both exercise physiologists and physiotherapists are dedicated to enhancing function to promote participation in everyday activities.
How is it different from a personal trainer?
A personal trainer completes a short course in 6-12 weeks, focusing on exercise for healthy individuals. In contrast, an Exercise Physiologist undergoes at least 4 years of university training, covering chronic health conditions and healthy populations. Exercise Physiologists are extensively trained to provide exercise guidance for those with neurological conditions, disabilities and injuries.
