Hydrotherapy involves using water-based exercises and treatments to address the symptoms and challenges associated with conditions affecting the nervous system. It leverages the unique properties of water, such as buoyancy, warmth, and resistance, to provide a therapeutic environment for our clients with neurological disorders.
Hydrotherapy is completed at the local pool with one of our trained therapists. Using pool hoists, water wheelchairs and shower trolleys for personal care we aim to support all our clients to access hydrotherapy.
How can hydrotherapy at WCN help you?

- Reduced Joint Stress: Hydrotherapy provides buoyancy, reducing the impact of gravity on the body, and alleviating pressure on joints.
- Improved Mobility and Range of Motion: The warmth and buoyancy of water can help loosen tight muscles and improve flexibility.
- Enhanced Muscle Strength and Endurance: Hydrotherapy provides resistance against movement, which helps strengthen muscles without putting excessive strain on the joints.
- Pain Relief: The warm water in hydrotherapy can promote relaxation and reduce muscle tension, providing relief from pain. This can improve overall comfort and well-being, facilitating better participation in therapy sessions and daily activities.
- Facilitation of Functional Activities: Hydrotherapy can simulate real-life movements and activities in a safe and supportive environment. This allows for practising functional tasks like walking, reaching, and balancing with reduced risk of falls or injury.
